Recently several Shar-Peis have ended up in kill shelters here in Colorado and we are having difficult finding fosters or adoptors for these beautiful dogs.

Current Shar-Pei in Need: I am posting Suki’s information because we rescued her from a high kill shelter and placed her in a foster home and it is not working out and we need a new foster or better yet a furever home for her ASAP. About Suki:
Suki is currently in a foster home with 2 dogs and 1 cat. Her current foster mom remarks: She is so well behaved and sweet! Not a single accident in the house, she knows simple commands and she loves to snuggle! Due to having 3 dogs and a cat, current foster mom is unable to keep and is asking us to remove her as it is becoming too much. Suki is around 5 years old and loves humans, is laid back and follows her foster mom around the house. This lovely family came into the Canon shelter in November with this adorable well- behaved bulldog, wanting to surrender, but looking worried.  When the very new week-end office girl erroneously told them this dog would likely be pts due to breed they fled to the parking lot.  I gave them my phone numbers and they left.

 

I had a long list to transport at the time so was relieved when I didn’t hear from them and figured they’d reconsidered. So this afternoon she emails me….  Their bulldog loves the chis dearly but has injured them in her enthusiasm.
 

If any of you are able to find a foster or home for Willow in the next few weeks I’m sure they’d transport.  1 yo spayed, UTD on shots.

I have an American Bulldog named Willow. In November I attempted to take her to the Humane Shelter because she keeps running over my daughters chihuahua and hurting him while they are playing. The human shelter cued me in on the fact that they would have to put her down (based on her breed) and that is when I met you in parking lot and you told me about some homes that would be appropriate for her and gave me your information.

To begin with please know that the only reason I need to find a different home for Willow is to protect our little dog, Taser. There is no aggression in any way but they get to playing and he thinks his is as big as her, and she thinks she is as small as him. Taser takes off after Willow and chases her in circles. As they make turns Taser who is 4.5lbs gets ran over by Willow who is 70lbs. She always tends to him to make sure he is okay, but we have had to take him to the vet and put him on pain medications because of this.

Willow turned a year old this month and was spayed in December. She has all of her shots and is good with kids, other animals, and people of both genders. She does need some training, but is very house broken, is kennel trained, and is gentle with people while playing. It is very important to me that she goes to a good home that will take the time and have understanding for the needs of an American Bulldog.

Molly has been in Shelter for 1 Year Now! Can Anyone Help Molly???

Molly is also at the Humane Society of the South Platte Valley, and it’s been over a year for her. She’s a senior Boxer mix, still full of life, and she deserves to be in a comfortable home for her golden years. She loves snuggles and pets but she also loves to zoom around like a puppy during playtime. She does like some dogs that are similar in size, but not others, so an introduction will be necessary. Can anyone adopt for foster Molly?

This Sweetie Pie Needs a Foster, but would Love her own Furever Home!!! Pink Lady was in a Foster home and it didn’t work out. Now she finds herself in Boarding and is getting very depressed and we need to get her back into a foster/furever home ASAP. Rescuer had to pull her out and take her home for a couple of days, but she so needs a Foster/Adopter ASAP. Boarding is just as bad as being in a Shelter and can ruin the animals.

Pink Lady is a lovely Pit Bull mix that is looking for a home of her own. She is around 2 years old and about 50 pounds, so she’s a young girl with lots of life and spunk, but she is house trained and has excellent leash manners and very smart! She’s very sweet with people and loves to play with big dogs but shouldn’t go to a home with cats or small dogs. She found herself at a local shelter back in May with almost no fur due to allergies but Pink Lady is healthy now and her allergies are easily managed with her diet. Their owner is losing their home and they certainly do not deserve to be out on the streets. Even though they are good friends, they do not need to be placed together – they will make friends with whomever is in their new home! Rusty and Kodak both get along with other dogs and are especially fond of people. Rusty is a devoted dog who will reward his person with loyalty and love. He requires so little and is appreciative of any affection and attention he receives. Can you give Rusty the home he deserves?

NALA – A VERY SPECIAL PLEA for Nala who appears to have endured some horrific abuse in her short life but is still a happy, sweet girl. We took her to the vet yesterday and he said it appears that some time ago, Nala was stuck in the head with a bat or something with such great force, it damaged her skull and eye BUT Nala is just fine, while she has lost vision in one eye and has an indention in her skull, she has no brain injury and is otherwise healthy. This girl has obviously been through so much, PLEASE help us find a foster for her! After what she endured at the hands of a person, she so deserves a second chance at a loving home. She has all shots, been wormed, and chipped and we are trying to get her fixed before sending out. She is good with other dogs and people, just no cats. How precious is she with those EARS! She looks like a yellow lab with shep ears – very friendly and good natured. She is about a year old and is 55lbs.

Maddie – A VERY SPECIAL PLEA for Maddie  This sweetheart is a special needs kinda gal, she has a deformed from left leg. She has short stubby legs like a bassett and the body of one too. She is very beautiful and her personality matches her perfectly. Very sweet and loving! We like to get her leg checked out properly to see what can be done, if anything. She is a younger girl 0about 1-2 years old. yes she was a stray. Left in our night deposit building, no info. She is able to walk on it fine. Maddie is good with other dogs, not sure about cats yet trying to find out.

Jeremy was dumped in the over-night box of a CO shelter in the middle of the night. He is not fixed. He is an 8 year old Heeler …mix in desperate need. He was saved from euthanazia today, but we cannot save him without a foster home. He is good with other dogs, and loves people. Seriously, loves them. It makes him impossible to photograph him, as he’s always trying to crawl into the laps of the photographers. He has weakness in his back legs, and will need someone who can help him strengthen them.

PLEASE HELP US SAVE THIS AMAZING PUP, MATER!!! He has lots of advocates and volunteers that have vouched for him to keep him safe even though the shelter that he came from would not adopt him. We NEED someone to step up to FOSTER this guy (even if just temporarily), so we can give him some training and a REAL chance at adoption and a happily ever after! If you can even foster for 3 weeks until 12/16, Please step up for him!!
Mater is an adult Pit Bull currently at a shelter. He is not doing well in a shelter environment and they are not going to put him up for adoption. We are looking for a foster/adopter to get him out of the shelter. Notes: notes: “Dog is very energetic and strong. Tested well in all categories but does everything a little over the top. would benefit from regular exercise and training. Loves handling but gets excited and jumps on handler. Dog to dog – some vocalization. Is very focused on helper dog but able to approach and allowed him to sniff. He has not had very much socialization and his hackles were up but he was redirected back to handler.” He’s been at shelter since Oct 4 with not a whole lot of socialization or interaction. Pink Lady Is is urgent need of Rescue!!! Notes from Rescue Volunteer about Pink Lady:
I was at the shelter today, and Pink Lady is not doing well. She is beginning to lose interest in playing with humans, which is something she’s always loved. She really needs a foster ASAP so we can get her out of her kennel. This girl is awesome but I’m afraid if she continues to decline in the shelter she’ll no longer be adoptable soon. She can’t be around cats but she loves to play with bigger dogs and is a sweetheart with people. She came to the shelter in such bad shape, but she’s better now and this should be her new beginning, not the end.

Pink Lady

Petunia, a fully vetted 4.5 yr young fem. Black Labrador/Pitty mix, has been at the shelter since May 2012. Her time is up!!! She is a sweet and smart girl who LOVES her toys, even retrieves the ball. She would make a great friend to take on a hike or camping. She wants to be loved and petted and needs a second chance in life. Here are some adorable pictures of her. Just look at her unusual white markings on her chest.
